Madison County, Illinois

Madison County is located in Southwest Illinois. It is named for James Madison, fourth United States President.
The seat is Edwardsville while the largest city is Granite City. The county is bordered by the Mississippi River to the west.
Madison County borders Bond, Clinton, Jersey, Macoupin, Montgomery and St. Clair Counties in Illinois; as well as St. Charles and St. Louis Counties in Missouri.
In addition, Madison County borders the Independent City of St. Louis in Missouri.
Main highways include I-55, I-70, I-255, I-270, US-40, US-67, IL-3, IL-4 and IL-100.
